Filming/Photography tour in Ladakh

Ladakh is a high altitude landscape sandwiched between the Greater Himalayan and Karakoram Mountain ranges. To the haunting sound of the monks chanting and the aromatic fragrance of juniper smoke we explore the fascinating city of Leh, as well as the Lamayuru and Hemis Monasteries

Through a number of incredible drives through spectacular scenery, this photographic holiday explores the best that this literally breathtaking region has to offer. The focus of this trip is to enable participants to experience first-hand and document the range of  stunning  photographic possibilities that exist in Ladakh. During this trip we will be photographing  medieval monasteries and forts that cling precariously to the sides of  mountains, stunning landscapes, mystical dance festivals, ancient towns that lie along what was  The Old Silk Route - truly, this trip is Ladakh unplugged.

Himalayan Eco also has experience with providing logistical support for filming in Ladakh.  We can arrange all of the required permissions, scout locations, provide cultural consultations, translation services, and logistical support for the film crew.  We have previously worked on a couple of projects Like, The Highest Pass and Jesus in Himalaya.

Himalayan Eco offers an exclusive opportunity to see this elusive big cat in the wild. Tours, based in mountain villages in Ladakh, are held in February and March during the mating season at a time when the Snow Leopards, are calling each other, hence easier to find.  We provide expert guides with an intimate knowledge of the behaviour of the leopard and the Ladakhi landscape, ensuring the best chance of success in seeing the leopard and other native animals such as wolves, foxes, ibex and urial.

Snow Leopard tours take place in the early spring when temperatures are well below freezing (-15 degrees at night). Road passes to Ladakh are cut off by snow from October to April so the only access is by air. The itinerary may be adjusted at short notice due to adverse weather conditions although there is usually little snow in the valleys and on the lower slopes.
